Welcome to the second Medieval Monday of 2019. Today my guest is Ashley York with the second snippet from The Curse of the Healer:
Her breath caught at the intense pleasure worming through her innards as she perused his long, muscled length. A handsome warrior indeed. Mesmerized, she admired his slow, cat-like grace as he moved closer still. A memory pricked at the edges of her consciousness, but try as she might, she could not quite grasp it, and it did not seem to matter overmuch.
“Who are ye?” she asked. Her words sounded breathy, and her heart beat faster when he peered closer. The deep blue of his eyes seemed to twinkle. She shook her head. Darkness was fast approaching. Surely she could see no twinkle. But he kept his eyes on her, almost as if he could see into her very soul.
“Ye do not know me?” he asked.
Aednat tipped her head, searching the cobwebbed edges of her memory, but soaking in the sight of him was much more pleasurable. He seemed so much bigger than other men and much better built. Her smile widened and she lifted her shoulders. “I do not know.”
I encourage you to leave a comment here for Ashley about what you think will happen next in The Curse of the Healer. You’ll be able to find out how close your guess was when Ashley’s third snippet appears at Mary Morgan’s blog next week, Monday, Feb. 18th for snippet number three!
Were you looking for the second segment of my novel The Herald’s Heart? You may find that today at Ashley York’s Blog. You’ll also find the first snippet of The Curse of the Healer at Ashley York’s blog as well.
Meanwhile here’s a blurb to whet your appetite for The Curse of the Healer and a buy link for your convenience.
After the death of Brian Boru in 1014, a legend arose of a healer so great she could raise a man from the dead, with a power so strong it could make any warrior the next high king of Éire…and to steal it away from her, he need only possess her.
Fated to be a healer…
Aednat has spent her entire life training to be the great healer, knowing she must remain alone. When she meets Diarmuid, the intense attraction she feels toward him shakes her resolve to believe in such a legend. If she gives in to the passion he ignites in her, can she settle for being less?
Destined to be his…
Diarmuid of Clonascra is renowned for his bravery in battle. Only one thing daunts him: the prospect of taking a wife. The safest course would be to keep his distance from Aednat, the bold, headstrong healer who’s far too tempting for his peace of mind. But his overking orders him to protect her from a group of craven warriors intent on kidnapping her to steal her power.
What starts as duty for Diarmuid quickly transforms into something more. Aednat’s power might be at risk, but so is his closed-off heart.
